New year, new Chair for Community Enterprise

Strathfieldsaye & Districts Community Enterprise has appointed a new Chair, with Strathfieldsaye resident Catherine Wilby taking the reins ahead of a busy 2017 for the not-for-profit organisation.

Commenting on the appointment, outgoing Chair, Eddie Castle said Catherine was an outstanding director and would play an important part in the governance and strategic initiatives of the Enterprise going forward.

“I am delighted to announce Catherine as the Community Enterprise’s next Chair – Catherine will bring a background in community planning and development to the position, as well as a passion for the local community,” said Mr Castles.

Moving to Strathfieldsaye in 2006, Catherine has worked as a nurse for many years, before a recent change into the field of community planning and development. As a mother to three young daughters and having been a member of key community reference groups in recent years, Catherine is passionate about ensuring that those making decisions at a local level hear the needs of community members.

Catherine is honoured to be taking on the role at such a crucial and exciting juncture for the Community Enterprise and wider Strathfieldsaye & Districts community.

“Strathfieldsaye and the surrounding towns are growing rapidly, with new families moving to the area every day,” said Ms Wilby.

“Our Community Enterprise has an important role to play in this growth; helping to develop strong, vibrant and healthy communities by providing financial support, connections and advocacy for community groups and projects that enhance the lives of local residents.

“I am delighted to serve as Chair and will play an active role in strengthening our relationships with community groups, local government and the business community, including our major partners Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Telco.

“I look forward to guiding the board as it builds on its recent $1 million back to community milestone, seeking new projects and ventures from across the district to ensure the community continues to flourish as it expands.”
